BEIJING, Oct. 24 (Xinhua) -- China's draft law on farmland protection and quality improvement was submitted on Friday to the ongoing session of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, China's top legislature, for its first reading.

Comprising eight chapters and 65 articles, the draft outlines requirements for farmland protection, calls for stronger management on cultivated land that has been put to other uses, and emphasizes efforts to improve farmland quality. ■
