TEHRAN, Oct. 24 (Xinhua) -- Iran's Foreign Ministry Spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei on Friday strongly condemned Israel's Thursday airstrikes on eastern and southern Lebanon.
Israel's airstrikes, killing four people and injuring several others, were "aggressive attacks and a terrorist crime," Baghaei said in a statement.
Baghaei urged the international community and the UN Security Council to fulfill their responsibilities in countering Israel's "law-breaking and crimes."
He extended condolences to the families of those killed in the airstrikes, highlighting the necessity to bring Israel to justice and punish it for its "crimes."
Two people were killed and two others injured by Israeli airstrikes on Thursday evening targeting a house in the town of Arabsalim, deep in southern Lebanon, while two were killed and several others wounded in earlier Israeli airstrikes on the Baalbek district in eastern Lebanon, the official National News Agency reported. ■
