LIMA, June 23 (Xinhua) -- Peru's mining exports reached 17.211 billion U.S. dollars in the first four months of 2025, up by 23 percent from the previous year, the National Society of Mining, Petroleum and Energy said Monday.
Copper remained the country's leading mineral export, accounting for 47 percent of the total, followed by gold, which represented 36 percent, the industry group said in a statement.
Copper exports totaled 8.113 billion dollars, up by 15.5 percent year on year; and gold exports amounted to 6.272 billion dollars, a 44.7 percent increase from a year earlier.
Peru, one of the world's major producers of gold, silver, copper, and other mineral resources, saw its mining sector contribute 65 percent of its total exports in the first four months of the year, according to the group. ■
